Lichen Planus

Lichen Planus is one of several diseases categorized as desquamative gingivitis. It is of unknown etiology and can affect skin and/or the oral cavity. Certain common medications can cause reactions similar to Lichen Planus, such as NSAID’s and cardiovascular drugs. There is no known cure, however several medications have been used successfully to alleviate this condition, and in some cases cause complete remission.

  • Avoid all products containing cinnamon, i.e. Dentyne, Dr. Pepper, etc.
